How the BeBriefed beta handles your information.

Last updated 7 September 2026

Who is responsible

BeBriefed is an independent project operated by Abdulrahman Hirsi, who is the controller of personal information handled through the service.

For privacy questions or requests, email contact@bebriefed.co.uk.

What is handled and why

BeBriefed does not currently offer reader accounts, comments or newsletters. When you visit, the hosting service may process technical logs such as your IP address, browser details, requested page and request time. These are used to deliver the site, diagnose faults and protect it from misuse.

If you contact BeBriefed by email, your address, message and any information you include are used to reply, investigate a correction or concern, and keep an appropriate record of the exchange.

Lawful basis

Technical logs are handled on the basis of legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure public website. Contact messages are handled on the basis of legitimate interests in answering readers and maintaining editorial accountability. BeBriefed does not use this information for direct marketing.

Storage on your device

When you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in session storage under bebriefed-theme. It is used only to keep your requested appearance during the current browser session and is not used for tracking. BeBriefed does not currently use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.

Who processes information

The beta uses Render to serve the website and Google Workspace to receive contact email. Those providers process information on BeBriefed’s behalf under their own security and data-protection arrangements. They may process information outside the UK using the safeguards described in their privacy terms.

How long information is kept

Technical logs are kept according to the hosting provider’s operational retention settings. Contact correspondence is kept only while it is needed to answer the message, resolve the issue, maintain an appropriate record or meet a legal obligation, then deleted when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict its use, or object to its use. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Contact BeBriefed first if you would like the issue investigated.

External links and changes

Briefings link to publisher websites with their own privacy practices. This notice will be reviewed before adding accounts, analytics, advertising, newsletters or an on-site contact form. Material changes will be dated on this page.
